I'm beginning to think that parking a domain at Sedo might be the best way to monetize a domain. They provide excellent tools in their non-binding arrangement with domain sellers.

Where as Google Adsense makes a lot of sense also, it has proven to be rather volital and inconsistent as a cash earner for my small array of domain names. At the same time, I've parked even lesser domain names at Sedo and found them to be consistent earners there.

The earnings on my domains is nothing more than pocket change, but it is pocket change that I would not have had I not parked my list of unused domains with them. I have some hyphenated domains with as many as three words that still manage to draw some traffic and click revenue each day.

With Sedo's tools I am able to choose from a broad array of templates. They even provide information about which templates work best for various genre. I am also able to choose and change keyword selections for each of my domains on the fly.

Its an excellent service and I recommend it.

Jim Wilson’s new CD, “A Place In My Heart” resounds with a freshly melodic transcendence that places the listener in the middle of what Wilson calls, “...the perfect California day...”. The compositions on this album center around the places and people that Wilson has known and loved. This gifted composer has learned well his craft and for that reason there is a narrative quality to his music that resonates with the heart and enables most people to enter into the broadly emotional experience described by his music.

Wilson’s thoughtful and well produced music is stylishly fresh with contemporary exuberance and classically rich intensity and depth. From the opening crescendo of the first track, “Morning On Cannery Row”, Wilson successfully engages the heart of his audience. Anticipation builds as the theme is first introduced by the violin, viola and cello followed by Wilson’s bright thematic proclamation on the piano. The beautifully lilting melodic contour of this first song sets the scene and prevailing mood of the entire project, providing an early taste of Wilson’s ingenious ability to capture in song both heartache and joy, optimism as well as angst.

This tonal duality has the amazing effect of putting the composer and his audience on such common ground that his song becomes their song. This magical relevance distinguishes Wilson’s music with universal appeal. However, the resulting bond between composer, listener and music could also be the CDs only short coming of note. Although the music is clearly passionate, listeners might develop a dispassionate over familiarity with its themes.

However, this would be a mistake on their part. Wilson has crafted enough melodic and harmonic variation into his compositions to keep the attentive listener well entertained. Several arrangements feature judicious use of the ethnic tonality which has gained increasing interested and appreciation as of late. For example the Irish flutes, whistles and Uilleann pipes played by Eric Rigler on, “A Place In My Heart”, “Sanctuary” and “Eagle’s Flight”, introduce a most pleasing sonic contrast in these songs and the project as a whole.

Additionally, Wilson’s superb piano technique is wonderfully accompanied on most tracks by the stellar performances of, Kristen Autry on violin, Briana Bandy on viola and cellist Sharon Rizzo. This ensemble maintains the predominantly warm timbre of this project, playing on eight of the tracks. Their appealing presence stands out especially in, “Morning On Cannery Row”, but their performances on all of the tracks are notable. No doubt the effectiveness of this trio owes much to arrangers Brad Cole and Quinn Johnson.

“Foolish Me” is the first of two songs in which Wilson sings, demonstrating yet another dimension of giftedness. This song also features the 50 piece Prague Orchestra. Wilson also sings on, “If The Morning Never Comes”, where he duets with Marilyn Martin (who sang duet with Phil Collins on the hit “Separate Lives”). Although the lyrics, vocals and instrumental performances on these two songs are dynamic and flawless, they in no way overshadow the instrumental greatness of the balance of this album.

Wilson works with a number of other renowned musicians on this project including trumpeter Chris Botti, acoustic guitarist Ricardo Silveira, guitarist Davey Johnstone, Neil Stubenhaus on bass, drummer Vinnie Caliouta and percussionist Alex Acuna.

Isolating a “best of” on “A Place In My Heart” would be too formidable a task for this reviewer. The sunny optimism of “Morning On Cannery Row” comes to mind as does the ethereal majesty of “Eagle’s Flight” and the mystical loftiness of “Hunter’s Moon”. Still there is the spiritual introspection and peace of “Sanctuary”, the title tune “A Place In My Heart” and the dreamily melodic “Luna de La Jolla”. Suffice to say this recording deserves a place in the rotation of any worth while CD collection. “A Place In My Heart” will undoubtedly abide in the hearts of grateful listeners as a welcomed and special addition.

More Details at: http://www.playjazzguitar.comOne of the biggest stumbling blocks for music students is knowing what to practice. In the early years students listened to their teachers and did what they told them to do, which is still of course perfectly valid. But the real turning point that sets a student on their own path is the ability to self motivate and take the reins without the aid of a mentor.
This usually happens around the time that the student falls in love with music. When a student starts out, they usually practice out of fear. Fear that they might be told off because their teacher will scold them for NOT practicing. So much later, when the student has some basic playing facility behind them, music all of a sudden becomes fascinating to them. This is when the craving to pick up the instrument starts to happen.
As the student continues to explore on his or her own, there are doubtless times when road blocks appear. I've always thought that improving happens in peaks and plateaus, where the plateaus of seeming UN-improvement seem to last forever! This of course is never the case because the plateaus are the times when the information is being absorbed which is so necessary.
However, it is during these plateaus that the student often gets stuck. Personally, I have always got through these troublesome times because I have always paid close attention to a little inner voice that would always tap me on the shoulder and say "You know you have a weakness when you play over diminished chords", or "Your sight reading in the 8th position needs a little work when you play in the key of Ab". And so on.
This little voice never went away over the years. She's still there today, tapping me on the shoulder every few weeks, making sure I am not resting on my laurels. But I have found that if I am committed to improving and really open to working on whatever I need to work on, I will always get the advice I need.
I think deep down we all know what our strengths and weaknesses are as players at any level. Therefore as we continue to grow and develop as musicians, we must always pay very close attention to our weaknesses and work on them. They usually stare us in the face. The trouble is, it is very easy to ignore what is usually obvious to us.
One thing I have found is that, unless I am really open to learning and in the mode of wanting to improve, that little inner voice tends to go away. She's not tapping me on the shoulder telling me what I need to work on unless I really want to know.
So I guess what I am trying to say here is ask yourself questions! What is your real commitment to music and what are your weaknesses? If you truly want to be a great player then you simply need to focus on your weaknesses.
Now as time goes on, and you cover the playing field regarding technique, harmony and melodic vocabulary, then that inner voice directs you to more and more specific things. She might say "You sound unsure when you play over that G7(+5) bit in the bridge of Stella By Starlight", or "Blowing in 3/4 time isn't really quite together yet is it? - let's work on that".
Now, I also find these days that my inner voice offers me inspirational things to practice. She might say, "You know when you played that augmented idea at the 10th fret over D7 - that's cool - work on that!" or "When you played that 2 5 lick but with open strings - yeah - develop that - that's interesting!". I get this all the time these days, giving me fuel to work on my things rather than other players' ideas. This is what intrigues me today.
Self improvement as a player seems to be a never ending quest for inspiration and ideas and I find the best source these days comes from within.

The band consists of Jonathon Decker on guitar and lead vocals, Brent Ulrich on guitar, Nate Van Name playing the keyboards, Stephen Smoker playing bass and singing backup vocals, and Chris Narcisi on drums. Decker's ranging vocals, along with Van Name's punctuated keyboard riffs, are two of the more notable tools employed by The Mint to effectively drive the dynamic variation that makes their music so interesting. However, The Mint treats listeners to the kind of sound that could not be produced without excellent musicianship from every member.

You definitely want to add this CD to your collection. Hopefully, this offering is only a forerunner of a longer playing CD by this dynamic rock group.

This CD’s predominantly acoustic mix provides a pleasant and intimate context for the lyrics. Several notably artistic devices, creating unusual sonic effects, occur in several tracks and should cause listeners to sit up and take notice. The project’s musical highlights include Amen’s distinctive voice, a particularly pleasant violin which lends its color to some of the most memorable tunes like “Fortress” and “Anaheim,” and an interesting use of the pedal steel guitar.

The ninth track, “Daddy,” carries the CD away from its acoustic moorings, introducing a slightly grungy lead guitar and a sudden outburst of horns to accompany the cryptic lyric. This stylistic variation occurs at the three quarters mark which points out the only real weakness of the CD. There is a measure of sameness that comes across after a certain amount of acoustic guitar accompanying a vocal line contoured around a limited chordal structure. More songs like “Daddy” and “Wild Dogs And Ostriches” would serve to strengthen the overall appeal of the project.
